
The Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission meets his Emirati counterpart in Beirut to discuss digital media cooperation and the discourse of comprehensive development

The Chairman of the Communications and Media Commission (CMC), Dr. Nofal Abu Ragheef, met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office of the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of the 21st Arab Media Forum held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the UAE in the fields of media and government communication, particularly in areas related to the regulation of the digital space and the development of the legislative framework for media, in line with contemporary transformations and in service of the shared interests of the two brotherly countries.
Dr. Abu Ragheef emphasized the importance of coordinating Arab efforts to confront the chaos of digital content and called for advancing a joint Arab charter on media ethics and digitization in the era of artificial intelligence. He reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to providing its regulatory and technical expertise to serve the Arab media landscape, while also benefiting from the UAE’s distinguished experience in this field.
For his part, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s media and international stature, expressing his desire to strengthen the frameworks of joint cooperation on key issues of mutual interest, particularly in developmental media, professional training, and institutional media development.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announces that a foreign journalist has been kidnapped by unknown individuals
The Ministry of Interior announced today that a foreign journalist was kidnapped this evening by unknown individuals. Specialized security forces immediately began carrying out their duties to pursue the perpetrators, based on precise intelligence information, intensive field efforts, and tracking the kidnappers’ movements. Follow-up and pursuit operations led to the encirclement of a vehicle belonging to the kidnappers, which overturned as they attempted to flee. Security forces succeeded in arresting one suspect and seizing one of the vehicles used in the crime. The Ministry confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining individuals involved, rescue the kidnapped journalist, and take the necessary legal measures against all those who participated in this criminal act, in accordance with the law. Minister of Interior: Dismisses security leaders in Al-Mada'in sector and orders their detention following the targeting of Baghdad Airport
The Minister of Interior, Mr. Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, issued an order to open a broad investigation against a number of security leaders within the area of responsibility in Al-Mada'in, following the security breach that occurred in the sector last night. The Minister also directed the immediate dismissal of the Director of Al-Mada'in Police Department, the Director of the Intelligence Department, and the Commander of the Second Battalion of the Fourth Brigade – Federal Police, and ordered their detention pending investigation, due to their failure to perform the security duties assigned to them. He further ordered the formation of an investigative committee to determine the circumstances surrounding the launch of four rockets toward Baghdad International Airport, which were fired from within their area of responsibility, and to identify the gaps that led to this attack. Al-Shammari stressed that the security institution will not tolerate any negligence or leniency in protecting vital targets and upholding the rule of law, affirming that accountability will extend to anyone proven to be negligent in maintaining security within their assigned sectors.
